A documentary about distinguished journalist Noah Klieger, whose harrowing story of personal survival and life-long commitment to Holocaust commemoration established him as a widely influential voice in modern Jewish history.
Belgian-born Noah Klieger survived the Holocaust by narrowly avoiding the gas chambers at the Auschwitz death camp, then faking his way onto the Nazi camp’s boxing squad. This timely documentary filmed just before Klieger's death gives voice to his personal experience; as a boy who smuggled Jewish children from Belgium to Switzerland and reluctantly became a fighter at the age of 16 in order to survive.
On his return to Belgium after the Second World War, Noah volunteered to help the “Hagana” organization to smuggle Jews via illegal immigration to Israel, eventually joining them aboard the renowned ship “Exodus – 1947”.
Noah passed away in December 2018 at the age of 92. At the time of his death, he was regarded as the 'world's oldest living journalist'. With his place in history cemented, his legacy as a highly reputable journalist and his unique expertise on essential aspects of Nazi crimes makes a powerful case for the insight of personal experience in the study and retelling of the Jewish Holocaust.
